Depression, this is a word we here in the United States have been hearing quite often recently. Such large numbers of people have been caught off guard financially over the past couple of years and as a result are cornered in spots that are extremely frightening. One of the major problems that many consumers are trying to tackle nowadays is being stuck deep in credit card debt. So deep for many they might never climb out unless they take action and use some method of credit card debt relief. Now there are a couple rather popular forms of credit card debt relief, one is consumer credit counseling and the other is debt settlement. Both are very different methods, however the goal in mind is the same and that is to get rid of credit card debt.

Credit counseling is a program that will help people to get their interest rates reduced and also offers one monthly consolidated payment, thus making life easier as far as managing the bills each month. One of the problems with credit counseling is for a lot of people the payments are too high for them to realistically manage, especially during such difficult times.

Debt settlement programs on the other hand offer different advantages. The two benefits of this procedure are saving income and time. Debt settlement is time tested to be the most rapid way to become debt free other than filing for bankruptcy, and also will save you the most amount of money possible. There is however a few drawbacks to this procedure, one being that you must fall into default on the debts for the credit card companies to be willing to then negotiate a settlement, so the credit history will be negatively affected. Plus there will be collection calls. However for many the advantages are too beneficial, saving half of the money owed on credit card debt is extremely nice and becoming free of debt in two years is also very nice. For most consumers this is really the only consumer debt relief method that will work, because it will be manageable when credit counseling won’t be.

So if you find yourself to be stuck in debt take action now! Financial experts are saying that our financial system is only going to be getting worse so it is crucial to put yourself in the best possible spot financially. To get rid of credit card debt will be extremely helpful for your bottom line and you’re financial future. Of the two consumer debt relief systems we reviewed above many are finding debt settlement to be the most advantageous in getting accomplished the goals many Americans have set to get out of debt.
